Ludhiana, October 23, 2012: Police have arrested three persons, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a Head Constable deputed in the office of the IG (Traffic), Punjab, for allegedly robbing diamonds worth Rs 35 lakh and other valuables from an employee of a Mumbai-based diamond trader on October 15.
According to police, the accused have been identified as ASI Amar Singh, Head Constable Rajinder Singh and Angrej Singh. However, their accomplices identified as Malkit Singh and Manpreet Singh are still absconding.
The police have recovered diamonds worth Rs 22 lakh from the possession of the accused.
As per the police, ASI Amar Singh was working as a telephone operator at the office of the IG (Traffic), Punjab.
