Iqbal Khan bids adieu to Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani

Sudesh Berry makes an entry in a cameo
Zee TV's immensely popular period drama 'EK Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' has been keeping the viewers on the edge of their seats with twists & turns galore. Set against a fascinating backdrop of the lifestyles, motivations, hopes, aspirations, insecurities and the mysteries that shroud the Indian royalty of the 1940s, the show featured the gorgeous Drashti Dhami and Sidddhant Karnick as the original Raja- Rani when it took off in July 2015. Cut to a 12 year leap in June 2016, the show moved to the late 50's and introduced an all-new, young and fresh cast- Sartaj Gill and Eisha Singh as the next-gen Raja and Rani who received just as much appreciation from both viewers and critics. The show is now set to take another leap and also marks the exit of the antagonist Iqbal Khan from the show. What's more, there is a surprise in store for all the viewers as veteran actor Sudesh Berry, who has impressed viewers with his sheer range and versatility across several powerful roles, is also set to do a cameo in the show!

Speaking on his exit from the show, Iqbal says, "Working as Nawab Iqbal Khan in the show was really a wonderful experience and I am going to miss the journey and my co-actors Anita Raaj, Eisha, and Sartaj. Going daily on to the sets used to be really exciting as each day there was something new and interesting for me to do. The producers, the director, the co-actors, the crew ... everyone has been so nice and they all are amazing people. I don't do cameos usually but this one has been a memorable one for me and I surely will be in touch with everyone".

Eisha Singh who plays the role of Rani in the show says, "When Iqbal entered the show, we all were on our best behavior as he is our senior and has always been known to be intense and serious about his performances. But we were in for a surprise when he slowly opened up and made us laugh with his quirky sense of humor. He is just as focused as one had heard about him but knows how to have a good laugh while he's at it. The actors had all begun eating our lunch together ever since he'd started shooting with us. I am surely going to miss him a lot".

Get ready to watch some high-octane drama in the show when Raja who manages to escape and is on the run, finds help in a man in a jeep called Maheshwar Patil (played by Sudesh berry). It turns out he is a smuggler and a don from the underworld of Mumbai. Raja will be brought to Mumbai while on the other side, Rani will be struggling to keep Iqbal away from Raja but Iqbal will find out that Raja is in Mumbai. Rani will try to escape from the clutches of Iqbal but he will put her in the car and will drive her to Mumbai to kill Raja. IS this the end of Raja and Rani's love story?
