India is a country which has encouraged numerous budding authors. Pradeep Shrivastava, a computer qualified and an IT expert from Bangalore, who was born and brought up in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh the heartland of India, has been raised in one pensioner’s paradise.
Born on 28 October 1977, and the youngest of all his siblings, Pradeep has witnessed a lot many real -life incidents showing the true picture of the country, ever since his birth. The real scenario of India of late compelled this IT Professional to pen down a real-life incident, in a contemporary literary fiction titled “Sacrifice – The Road to Obscurity”.
According to Pradeep Shrivastava: This novel, Sacrifice – The Road to Obscurity is a debut work presenting , the first part of his trilogy depicting the angst, aspirations, and struggles of a middle-class family of Jabalpur headed by Narayan Keer and how one day a single decision changed everything in their life.
Pradeep Shrivastava tells the reason he chooses to pen down this story was to portray something about life, bringing in the real picture of India which most of us are unaware about. The theme of the novel revolves around the practice where all Indian Families take centuries to reach their pinnacle which gets destroyed in a day and become part of distant memory. Through the medium of this novel,Sacrifice – The Road to Obscurity he has tried to make an effort to showcase the evils of injustice and superstitions prevalent in our society, even in the twenty-first century.
Pradeep Shrivastava faced constant rejections for getting his story published. But this didn’t let him loose hope and feel disheartened. Rather his core determination and passion for making this novel available among the audiences motivated him to go in for self-publishing. All he wishes from his readers to be patient while reading the novel and apply the message that it offers to deal real life situations. Also, he adds that this is just the first part that evokes interest among the readers to know more, as what followed next would be further revealed in the other two parts of the trilogy.
Small note on Novel Story
Narayan Keer is a humble lower middle-class man, whose life revolves around his family. He and his wife work hard so that their children can have a better life than they did. However, their dreams come crashing down when an influential builder decides to construct a sports complex upon their colony, and asks the residents to vacate the land.
The Keers, along with their neighbours, face the prospect of losing their home. The fear brings to the fore superstition, greed, anger and mistrust among the residents of the colony. In the grip of these emotions, they take decisions that will have far-reaching consequences.
