Ferozepur, June 17, 2017: State Tourism Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu “Curtained down” much hyped amphibious bus “Harike Cruise” during his visit to Harike wetlands today. Sidhu who is in mercy mood, slammed previous SAD-BJP regime and said that though the amphibious bus service was being withdrawn, the state government will set up a “tourism-hub” here so that the local economy can be benefitted. “We will soon come up with a new ground-breaking project to develop eco-tourism in Harike here so that the ecology of the lake does not suffer” said Sidhu

Sidhu, who was accompanied with congress MLAs Parminder Singh Pinki (Ferozepur Urban), Kulbir Singh Zira (Zira), Harminder Singh Gill (Patti), Sukhpal Singh Bhullar (Khemkaran). On this occasion, Sidhu, while slamming SAD government, said that just to fulfill this bizarre dream (of running the amphibious bus at Harike lake), Badal government destroyed the standing crops of the farmers. “Crores of rupees were spent for this project and this project lasted for only ten days. If the previous regime was interested in running the buses only, why didn’t they tried to ply them on roads. PRTC buses were facing huge loss of around 350 Cr. but the Badal government bothered only about their buses which were plying.

It is pertinent to mention that the project had earlier courted controversy when standing crops in around 500 acres land had submerged under water which was released from Harike barrage to facilitate inaugural bus ride on December 12 last year with Sukhbir and his sister Perneet Kaur on board. However, after the maiden ride, the bus which had invited wrath over its poor fabrication was sent back, and eventually replaced by another “ better looking” bus which started floating in lake last month only.
On this occasion Ramvir, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, DPS Kharbanda, DC Tarantaran, Gourav Garg, SSP, Ferozepur, Harjit Singh, SSP, Tarantaran and several congress workers were present.
