Jagraon police bust gang of robbers with arrest of four gang members

Ludhiana, December 2, 2017: The Jagraon police achieved a huge success when it busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of four gang members. The police have recovered 65 stolen and snatched motorcycles from the locations disclosed by the accused. The police have also seized weapons and drugs from the accused.
Giving the details of the development during a press conference here today, DIG Ludhiana range Gursharan Singh Sandhu IPS informed that the accused were arrested following a tip off yesterday evening from a factory outside Bhumal village near Sidhwan Bet.
"The police received secret information that some suspects carrying dangerous weapons have been planning a robbery a factory near Bhumal village. Following this different police parties led by CIA Staff Jagraon Incharge Inspector Lakhvir Singh and Gidarwindi police chowki incharge ASI Sukhwinder Singh immediately carried out a raid at the said factory", said DIG Sandhu.

SSP Jagraon Surjit Singh IPS informed that on seeing the police, the suspect attempted to flee but the police teams gave them a chase and nabbed four gang members while two off their accomplices managed to escape.
The accused arrested by the police have been identified as Sukhraj Singh alias Sukh of Manakpur village in Amritsar district, Joban Singh alias Joban of Sohal village in Tarntarn district, Dilbagh Singh alias Bagha of Oder village and Tarsem Singh alias Deepu alias Patwari of Sultan Wind in Amritsar district. The two gang members who managed to escape from the scene have been identified as Bittu of Sohal village and Angrej Singh of Oder village.
According to SSP Surjit Singh, the police seized 1 pistol 12 bore and 2 live cartridges from Joban Singh, a pistol and 2 live cartridges from Dilbagh Singh, a 315 bore pistol and 2 live cartridges from Sukhraj Singh. Besides, the police also seized 200 gram drug powder from Tarsem Singh alias Deepu alias Patwari. The police have also recovered 65 stolen and snatched motorcycles from the locations disclosed by the accused during questioning.
According to SSP Surjit Singh, all the gang members arrested by the police have been hardcore criminals and they were wanted to police in different cases registered against them at various police stations.
"During the preliminary interrogation the accused confessed that they stole the motorcycles from the Bus Stand and Railway Station of Amritsar, Rani Bagh and Hall Gate of Amritsar, Ranjeet Avenue Amritsar, from outside Darbar Sahib Tarn Tarn and Bus Stand and Railway Station of Ludhiana", informed the SSP.
The police have registered cases under NDPS Act, Arms Act and various sections of IPC against the accused at Sidhwan Bet police station.

According to SSP Surjit Singh, the police have been carrying out raids to trace the remaining two members of the gang who escaped from the spot. More revelations are expected during the further questioning of the accused arrested by the police, added the SSP.
