Jail inmates raising slogans against jail administration at Ferozepur on Tuesday.
Ferozepur, April 29, 2014: It was a chaos like situation at Central Jail Ferozepur when the inmates of the jail raised anti-government and jail administration slogans in the jail.
Few of the jail inmates are reportedly on hunger strike demanding better facilities, abolition of smart card system in the jail, demanding enhanced time period to meet their relatives and other facilities. Declaring smart card system a failure, one of the inmates said the old coupon system should be retrieved. He further said, if their demands are not met, they will continue their hunger strike.
D K Sidhu, SP, Jail said that jail administration has to work in accordance with law and nothing has been done opposing the jail manuals. He further said that the administration is also listening to the problems of jail inmates and trying to solve them.
