Various social organisations on Saturday paid glowing tributes to the martyr Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary. The martyr’s statue was garlanded at Bhagat Singh Chowk. Hind Sewa Samiti (Rashtriya) organised a function at the Samiti office and paid glowing tributes to the martyr. The Samiti president Sunil Sharma, chairman S.D Chug, BJP senior leader Rajat Kumar Mohindru, Amit Anand Bhola, Shammi Kannaujia, Karan Sharma, J.S Makkar, Mohinder Paul Pundit, Pawan Malhan and others were present.  National Martyrs Memorial Committee Jalandhar held a function at Red Cross Bhawan, Jalandhar City.

The rain in the morning continued for over four hours, resulting to which several city areas were flooded. Commuters especially two-wheelers face difficulties on the roads full of potholes.

Minister for Local Bodies and Medical Research, Punjab Anil Joshi visited city today. He stayed here while on way to Amritsar. He told that development works would be carried out on war footing and transparency would ensured in the working. He categorically said there was no scarcity of funds for development projects in the state.
