Jalandhar, September 26, 2013:  Varun Roojam, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar today warned that Punjab Government would be forced to initiate punitive action against all those illegal colonies that fail to get themselves regularised before the last date of regularisation (October 7, 2013).
Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of regularization of illegal colonies in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that the District Administration was extending all possible cooperation to individual residents and colonizers in getting their forms filled in different camps organised in various colonies so that most of the people could avail this last opportunity.
He said that people should come forward to avail this opportunity and warned that there would not be any extension of last date as the policy has been finalised by the Punjab cabinet.
Roojam said that after 7th October the district administration would launch punitive action against residents, plot holders, developers and promoters under PAPR Act 1995 under which FIR would be lodged against guilty that would also result in disconnection of power and water connection. He clarified that after October 7, 2013 no more illegal colony would be regularised and it may result in demolition of illegal structures.
The Deputy Commissioner asked all concerned officers to launch the campaign of regularisation of illegal colonies in a coordinated manner so that there was no difficulty faced by the applicants.
