Jalandhar, July 6, 2015: One of the top airways of the world, Qatar Airways Doha has appointed Lovely Professional University student as Cabin Crew at Rs 18 Lakh salary per annum. LPU Student Karn Sharma has completed B.Sc Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality program from LPU School of Hotel Management and Tourism. Since his appointment, Karn has visited more than 30 countries till date.
Jubilant Karn shares: “My selection could only be possible as my university groomed me as a world class professional for the industry. Like other students, I too was exposed to internationally bench-marked theoretical and intensive practical inputs by experienced faculty. I availed the opportunity as it came my way and now I am happy that my alma mater has turned my golden dreams into a reality.” Karn also shared: “LPU has a fantastic ‘Aviation lab’ in the form of “simulation aircraft” with business class facilities. This really helped me as I was better than hundreds of people whom they interviewed as I was on the internship throughout the year right on the university campus through this simulation lab. I was trained to greet the guests, make announcements, serve food and beverage, and to handle special passengers & emergency situations to be a perfect Cabin Crew.”
Congratulating the brilliant student on his success, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal shared: “We feel proud that our students are getting absorbed at coveted posts in different sectors at high pay packages. Such appointments work wonders as these motivate other students also to work hard for bright career ahead.” Mr Mittal further informed: “Indian aviation industry is one of the fastest growing aviation industries in the world, and has been growing both in terms of players and number of aircrafts. The Vision 2020 statement of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, envisages creating infrastructure to handle 280 million passengers by 2020. In fact, India has tremendous potential to become a major global tourist destination. Aspiring students to join this sector will be glad to note that presently total direct employment in the tourism sector is around 20 million.”
LPU program in Airlines and Tourism provides an opportunity for students to develop academic and industry specific skills linked to the commercial aviation industry. Program makes students understand the structure, nature and operating characteristics of the international tourism industry. It examines a range of contemporary issues associated with the travel and tourism industry, such as product ranges, business tourism, tour operators, travel agencies and transportation for tourism.
