JUDGMENT: Death sentence to three including girls’ mother

Ferozepur, December 18, 2012: The District and Sessions Judge, Ferozepur, Fatehdeep Singh, today announced death sentence to three persons including mother of the girl in double murder case of honour killing.

It is pertinent to mention here that the dead bodies of Rakesh Kumar, 20, and Pooja, 18, were found in a pool of blood, in the fields of Satiya Wala.  As per the sources, in this double murder case, Ferozepur Sadar police station, had registered a case on the statement of  Roop Singh son of Bhag Singh resident of Nurpur Sethan, father of the deceased Rakesh Kumar, under section 302, 34 IPC against Rakesh Kumar, alias Billa son of Sadiq, Gurbhej Singh alias Bheja Singh son of Santokh Singh of village Kotwal and Paramjit Kaur wife of Sudha Singh of Nurpur Setha, mother of the girl. 

As per the FIR lodged with the police, the complainant Roop Singh in his statement to the police had informed that his Rakesh Kumar had love affairs with Pooja of village Nurpur Sethan and when the parents of the girl named Pooja, came to know about this, the parents of the girl dropped her with relative Rakesh Kumar alias Billa of Kotwal. 

According to complainant, on November 7, 2010, Rakesh Kumar had gone out from his home but did not turn and a report to this effect was given to the police.  However, on searching the dead body of Rakesh Kumar and Pooja was found in the field in a pool of blood in village Satiya Wala.  The complainant informed the police, it was confirmed that his son Rakesh Kumar was in possession of Gurbhej Singh and Paramjit Kaur and he has been murdered by them.

District and Sessions Judge, Ferozepur after listening to the arguments and defense statements of both the advocates of the parties, announced the death sentence to three persons including mother of the girl.
