KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA, KAPURTHALA PROMOTED CULTIVATION OF OILSEED AND PULSES

Ludhiana, March 21, 2017: In the village Talwandi Chaudria , block Sultanpur, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kapurthala organized one day training programme on cultivation of rabi & spring oilseeds and summer pulses. At the outest, Dr.Manoj Sharma Associate Director (Trg.) highlighted the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and its mandate for the benefit of farming community. While elaborating about importance of oilseed and pulses crops in diversification, he narrated that during rabi 2017, KVK conducted FLDs on gobhi Sarson &Sunflower crops under oilseed programme whereas in coming summer season FLDs on mungbean will be conducted under pulses programme. A detailed package of practices of these crops were told to the participating farmers. Similarly , Dr Amandeep Kaur Asstt. Prof. (Veg.Sci) highlighted role of kitchen gardening and distributed 34 summer vegetable kits. Dr. Bindu Marwaha, Associate Professor (Agril. Engg) advised all the participants to save irrigation water by adopting recommended technologies of PAU. At the same time she narrated that it is possible to sow moong in the standing stubbles of wheat with Happy seeder. Likewise , It was emphasized to adopt laser land levelling , furrow irrigation method , use short duration varieties and to follow package of practice to conserve natural recourses.More than 50 farmers participated in the programme.
