Chandigarh, November 20, 2012: Transport department has asked the owners of the vehicles, who have applied and deposited the fee for the security registration number plates for purposes of getting the new number plates, fixed on their vehicles within a week.
A spokesman of Transport department informed here today that according to the guidelines of Supreme Court of India, the Transport department Punjab has initiated the process of fixing the security registration number plates on the vehicles from April 30, 2012. The owners of the vehicles, who have deposited their fee for the security registration number could contact concerned District Transport Officers (DTOs) within a week otherwise the fee would be forfeited and they would have to deposit the fee once again.
The spokesman further said that security registration number plates are mandatory for the vehicles registered after the 30-4-12; failing which the government would have to stop running of the vehicles without specific number plates.
