LPU student Amanpreet Singh looking jubilant as won Bronze Medal in World Cup competition for 50 Metre Free Pistol Final.

Jalandhar, November 1, 2017: Scaling new heights as a ‘Shooting Star in the World’, one of the MBA students of Lovely Professional University, Amanpreet Singh has recently won Bronze Medal at World Cup competition for 50 Meter Free Pistol Final. On this prestigious win, Amanpreet holds, “Considering that this is a world cup final with the best shooters of the world in fray, this is indeed my finest performance. No doubt, I have to improve on my scores and with all that now I want to win Olympic Gold for India, my university and my parents.” Prior to this, Amanpreet has already won a silver medal in ISSF organized world competition, and presently he is competing at Commonwealth Shooting Championships being held in Brisbane, Australia.

During the competition, at one stage, Amanpreet was quite ahead of others; however, he missed the top two medals by a very thin margin. Serbian shooter Damir Mikec won the gold medal with 229.3 scores; whereas, Oleh Omelchuk won silver with 228 scores in a thrilling round for the top prize. For Bronze Medal win, Amanpreet defeated Yussuf Diketch of Turkey and Dimitri Girgich of Serbia. During qualification rounds Amanpreet did very well and had scored high. Seeing his performance many of his fellow sports men-women had strongly predicted about his podium finish. Now, Amanpreet has many hopes from his performances in Commonwealth Championship also.

Hailing from Phillaur, Amanpreet has an aim to earn more and more glory through his shooting talent. Jubilant Amanpreet is indebted to all those who have always inspired, supported and guided him to choose this sport. He is ready to show deft shooting skills at Olympics 2020 to be held in Tokyo. He is also thankful to all of his teachers and fellow students at LPU who kept forwarding best wishes to him during the competition. Taking former famous shooter of India Samaresh Jung as his role model, Amanpreet inclines to write many stories of success through pistol, bullets and targets.

Congratulating Amanpreet on such a magnificent win, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal encouraged him to continue his trials and practices at the university shooting range, specially raised for the talented students of the university so that they may keep on touching new heights. Highlighting, Amanpreet feels that studies at LPU has developed his personality and made him to always work hard. Advising his fellow students, he messages: “Keep on working hard whether these are studies, sports or any other activity. One day sincere and devoted pursuing will definitely lead you to glorious success.”
