New Delhi: The Capital witnessed a four day gala event at Jaipur Polo Ground where five polo teams (Sona Polo, Royal Punjab, Jindal Steel and Power, Jindal Panther and Haryana Polo Club) competed against each other to entitle the Maharaja Pratap Cup under their name. On 6th November the finale took place where Royal Punjab got hold the title of first place as it defeated Jindal Panther by 8 goals to 5 and half to win the SS Empress Sir Pratap Singh Cup. Maharaja Narendra Singh of Jaipur and Princess Diya Kumari honored the winning team by handing over the cup and encouraging them for their sportsmanship in the royal game of polo.

Empress Polo initiated an art show, which aimed at helping the URI Martyr’s families, which was curated by Rohit J. Kapoor were put on display. There were works by international artists like Khalid Bin Hamad Bin Ahmad Al-Thani and several upcoming contemporary artists like Shashi Bharti, Avi Roy represented by Payal Verma besides several others.

This cup was presented by Maharaja Sir Pratap Singh of Jodhpur, in 1921 in commemoration of the visit of HRH The Duke of Connaught to India. This Cup is a replica of the original which was lost by the Patiala team. It is a 14 goal trophy. It was first played for in Delhi in 1921 and won by the Patiala Team.

On this occasion the event was taken back to the good old days through display of vintage cars that were brought on display to the guest present at the event.

The event was appreciated and enjoyed by eminent guests like Naveen Jindal, Shallu Jindal, Samir Suhag, Pawan Munjal, Gaurav and Rupam Malik, Nimit Mehta and many more.
