Ludhiana, February 1, 2017: A welcome point for Minerva. They looked much better tonight but will be sad to miss out on the win. Especially after creating a number of chances, and even hitting the crossbar once.

Learning lessons from their past outings, Minerva FC managed to held back Churchill Brothers at 0-0 to pull out one point, at their home ground Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana. The home team is now having two points to maintain their bottom placed position. Looking better than their last match at the same grounds against East Bengal, the local side started the game on a positive note. The first half of the game witnessed both the teams eagerly searching for a goal but always failed to convert the chances. Playing neck to neck tie, both teams managed to lock the game goalless in the first 45minutes. After the lemon break, Minervas played well while Churchill was struggling to combine well in the strikers’ line. Bothe the sides continued their search for goals. However, it was Minerva who played with a better defence and managed to pull out a point from the match . The score line remain unchanged in 90 minutes, The Minerva will next play against Mumbai FC on February 4 to improve their rankings. Churchill Coach Alford Fernandez said that the team played well but ran of luck to win the match while home team coach Surinder Singh said the Minerva’s defence kept calm and managed to save their goal.
