Samrala(Khanna), March 1, 2015: The Samrala Hockey Club today started its campaign to plant saplings in this calendar year.

The campaign was inaugurated today by famous Punjabi folk singer Manmohan Waris in the presence of member of Hockey Club.

Speaking on the occasion, Waris stressed on the need for planting maximum numbers of samplings to maintain ecological balance getting affected due to shortage of trees.

He also sung his son “Dheean Bachao, Rukh Lagao ate Paani Da Satkar Karo”.

He asked people to save daughters and protect trees. He also asked people to save water. He believed that it was need of the hour.

The club president Gurpreet Singh Bedi said the club had planted about 58,000 saplings so far. He added a total one lakh saplings would be planted by end of December this year.

Bedi further said that the club would organise seminars for school children to get them aware about the clean environment. He added they had organised chart making competition in the schools previously.

The club members including Bhupinder Singh SDO, Gurmeet Singh Bedi, Yadvinder Singh Bhanglan, Rajwinder Singh Samrala, Ramdass Singh Bangar and Rupinder Singh Gill were present.
