Jalandhar, August 27, 2012: Jalandhar police have arrested four persons, including a woman, in separate incidents here and recovered 3,030 Kg of smuggled goods from them with a truck worth Rs. 1.5 crore in the International market.

According to Yurinder Singh, SSP (Rural), Jalandhar, available information, police, on a tip-off, have arrested Baljinder Singh and Kundan Singh, both residents of Chime Kishangarh near Kartarpur today with a truck. Police have recovered 3,000 Kg poppy husk worth Rs 90 lakh in the market from the truck recovered from the accused.

Addressing a press conference here, he added in a separate case, Bhogpur Police have arrested Subodh Mahto and Babita Devi from the area yesterday night and recovered 30 Kg of opium from them. The value of this recovered consignment is worth Rs. 60 lakh in the market.

 Adding, he told that Subodh and Babita, residents of Jharkhand, are the carriers. He added Amit alias Kundan, running a motor spare parts shop in Jamshedpur, is the main source of the opium.

Further, he told that they had contacted the Jharkhand police to arrest Amit.

All the four have been booked under the NDPS Act.
