A narrow escape for passenger as DMU hits cement truck, driver dies

Ferozepur/ Fazilka, October 8, 2017: One person died following a train accident which took place today afternoon near Village Ladhuka in Fazilka district.
As per information available, the deceased has been identified as Vikas Kaypee. He was the driver of the DMU which was going from Ferozepur to Fazilka (Train No.74971). The train started its journey from Ferozepur at 8.40 am. As soon as it reached the railway crossing near Village Ladhuka (Gate Number 3064 between Pillar No.8 and 9), it was hit by a cement mixture truck.
As per the eyewitnesses, the impact was so lethal that the huge mixer got stuck in the DMU due to which the driver of the DMU died on the spot. The other part of the cement mixture truck was blown away by the train. The driver of the mixture truck had managed to elude.

It is pertinent to mention here that there are 269 unmanned railway crossings in Ferozepur Division and at least four major accidents have place in the recent two three years at one of these unmanned railway crossings.
