New industrial policy to provide special incentives to NRIs For Investing In State-NK Sharma

Chandigarh, August 10 : Punjab government is finalising the new industrial policy of the state which will provide special incentives to the NRIs who will make investments in their home state.

This was disclosed by Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Industry and Commerce, NK Sharma.

Addressing a well attended gathering of the NRIs at Moonlight Bankat Hall at Mississauga in Toronto, Canada, late last evening, Sharma said that that Punjab government has decided to devote the next five to the industrial development of the state. He said that new policy being formulated would provide impetus for the industrial growth in the state. He said that it was the right time for the NRIs to make investments in the state which would earn them good returns for their investments.

He said that the government has already implemented single window system for early clearance of the project proposals. He said that special directions had been issued to ensure that no prospective investor faces any problem while making investment for their projects in the state. He said that during the last five years government has achieved major success with establishment of Bathinda refinery, Four thermal plants and other major projects. He said that next five years would witness investment of worth Rs. 1 lakh crores in the industrial sectors.

Sharma said that Punjab is going to become second state of the country which is creating ‘land banks’ for providing cheap and attractive locations for establishment of industries. He said that special focal points are being planned which will have major facilities including the required infrastructure to boost the industrial environment in the state.

Earlier, Sharma was accorded rousing welcome by the NRIs led by Tandeep Sodhi, Rajinder Saini, Ex-MP Gurbax Singh Malhi, Raman Sharma and other senior citizens.  They gave a positive response to the blue print of Punjab’s development saga as presented by Sharma and assured him of the full support for the development initiatives of the Punjab government.

Meanwhile, Sharma also disclosed that Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal will visit Canada during the second week of the September this year and apprise the NRIs of the policies and programmes of the Punjab government for welfare of NRIs.
