NIIT unveiled state-of-the-art ‘NIIT Yuva Jyoti’ (NYJ) Centre

Jalandhar, September 30, 2012: NIIT, leading Global Talent Development Corporation and Asia’s largest IT trainer, today unveiled state-of-the-art ‘NIIT Yuva Jyoti’ (NYJ) Centre in Jalandhar.

‘NIIT Yuva Jyoti’ (NYJ) - joint venture of NIIT and NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation - a PPP initiative by Govt. of India), will help youth chart ambitious careers by opting for programs that best suit their aptitude. In the initial phase NYJ centres will impart skills training across 9 service sectors – Retail, IT/ITeS, BFSI, Education & Training Services, Media & Entertainment, Healthcare, Telecom, Hospitality and the Informal sector. Built on a strong foundation of NIIT pedagogy, state-of-the-art industry endorsed curriculum will be used to transfer skills to students. Through this initiative, NYJ aims to develop skills & employability for thousands of youth across Jalandhar and the adjoining region.

 On offer are career courses ranging from 4-9 months which will enhance employability skills of students by offering occupational, communication, and professional and life skills to make them industry ready, through NYJ’s unique training methodology, course content and infrastructure.The students will also enjoy the benefits of certification and 100% placement assistance.

NYJ also offers career foundation courses of 2 months duration in essential IT, Spoken English and Personality development to enable help students to gain confidence and communication skills that will help them further their career goals.

Speaking at the launch of ‘NIIT Yuva Jyoti’ centre, Sanjay Bahl, President, NIIT Yuva Jyotisaid, “With an aim to build a pool of job-ready work-force for the service industry, we are launching state-of-the-art ‘NIIT Yuva Jyoti’ centres in tier II and tier III towns across India. The NIIT Yuva Jyoti Centre at Jalandhar has been localized to suit the requirements of the industry being addressed. Students will have multiple entry and exit points for each course.  Once the basic skills in a particular sector have been mastered by the students, they will be able to further develop their potential by pursuing advanced courses and specializations.

‘NIIT Yuva Jyoti’ (NYJ) is a joint venture of NIIT and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) - a PPP initiative of Govt. of India. NIIT has entered into a significant public-private partnership with (NSDC) to enhance skills and employability for youth across India. Starting with Karnal in 2011, NYJ aims to setup over 1500 state-of-the-art NIIT Yuva Jyoti Centres, across 1000 cities. The aim is to provide industry and job specific training to around 70 lakh young Indians by 2022, thus helping create a pool of job-ready work-force for the service industry.

NIIT Yuva Jyoti leverages cutting-edge technology to bring the best of learning opportunity for the students in under-served towns.  The courses have been designed to leverage the mobile phone in an innovative manner so that the basic features of the phone are utilized to help students improve their personality diction etc.  In the classroom, a synchronous learning technology, allows teachers and Industry experts to take sessions with students in smaller towns from their offices in Delhi and other metro cities.  These sessions are available in recorded form as well for future reference.  For evaluation and practice, the students go through simulated interviews – which are recorded like video logs that are then evaluated by peers as well as the trainers.

NYJ centres assess the existing skill sets and aspirations of the participants and accordingly help them choose the right program, mapped to the requirements of the local industry. 100% placement assistance is made available to successful candidates.
