Ludhiana, June 20, 2017: Reacting to the state government’s budget proposals on health, Dr Arun Mitra, Senior Vice President, Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) has said that there is no reference to updating of the civil hospitals to modern super specialty level with provisions of modern gadgets like CT scan, MRI scan and ventilators. The patients will still have to go to the private corporate hospitals for their treatment. There is no mention of coverage limit in the universal health insurance scheme. There is no mention of stopping the outsourcing and providing health coverage in governments own centers. There is no mention of increase in the expenditure on prevention of communicable diseases.
“There is no mention of regularization of jobs of doctors and paramedical staffs working as contractual workers”, he said, adding. “Neither any mention has been made about increase in the salary and regularization of jobs of workers in the NHM”.
