Doctors, nurses and ANMs exempted from poll duty
Chandigarh, March 29, 2014: The Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab has clarified that as April 8 was declared Public Holiday under Negotiable Instrument Act 1881 by the Punjab government on account of Ram Navmi so the nomination papers could not be presented to the Returning Officer on that day.
According to an official spokesman, the medical staff including the Doctors, Nurses and ANMs should not be deputed for poll duty as the Election Commission of India has already exempted these categories in Para 3.3 of Chapter 3 of RO Handbook, 2014.
