New Delhi, October 14, 2012: Noted Hindi author Dr. Narendra Mohan still remembers the moment when his book `Manto Zinda Hai’, an authentic and complete biography, of Saadat Hasan Manto was released during an interactive programme on Manto here last month.
The programme was organised by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi on the eve of the visit of Manto’s daughters Nighat Patel Manto, Nuzhat Arshad Manto and Nusrat Jalal Manto from Pakistan.
Speaking to City Air News today, Dr. Narendra Mohan told that Vice Chancellor of JNU was the chief guest.
He told that while welcoming the Manto’s daughters, Prof. Chaman Lal, Professor and Former Chairperson,
Centre of Indian Languages, JNU, New Delhi, had introduced the august audience with life and works of Manto.
He recalled that highlight of interactive programme was, the release of his book by Manto’s daughters, alongwith the VC. In his brief note, he had apprised the gathering that it was a great experience for him to write Manto’s biography in a creative narrative combining psycho-analysis and historical perspective.
“A salient feature of the event was that the audience engaged itself with Manto’s daughters on many a topics, including Manto’s writings, his letters, pre-partition and post-partition era”, he revealed.
