NOZIT-2014 begins at DMCH

Ludhiana, March 27, 2014: The three-day North Zone Inter-Medical Indoor Games Tournament (NOZIT-2014), being hosted by Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, got off to a grand opening at Dumra Auditorium here today. Around 2,000 participants drawn from different medical and dental colleges of the north zone will take part in this three-day sports tourney.
Dr Sanjeev Uppal (Convenor, DMC Sports Committee) extended warm welcome to the dignitaries, faculty and participants present on the occasion. The chief guest during the inaugural ceremony was Vice Chancellor, Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR), Bhatinda Dr GP I Singh. In his message, the chief guest lauded the effort of members of organizing committee to hold such gala event. In his message,  the chief guest stressed on the need for medicos to take active participation in sports to lead a balanced and healthy life. The chief guest declared the meet open by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Those present on the occasion were Vice Presidents of DMCH Managing Society- Amrit Nagpal, Gian Chand Dhawan, Secretary- Prem Kumar Gupta, Treasurer Satish Sanwalk, Balraj, Principal Dr Daljit Singh, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Vice-Principal Dr. Sandeep Puri, Chief Cardiologist-Dr.G.S.Wander and Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Sandeep Sharma
To mark the occasion, Sunila Gupta, Member, Managing Society release the mascot Simba (The Lion)
Principal Dr Daljit Singh introduced the chief guest to the audience. In his message,Dr Daljit Singh appreciated the effort of the students and said that medical studies are quite stressful and sports activities act as a great stress buster for the medical students.
Dean Academics and Chairman of DMC Sports Committee-Dr.Rajoo Singh Chhina read the NOZIT report, in which he exhibited a wonderful slide presenatation of NOZIT events held in the past. He wished the participants best of luck for the coming sports competitions and said that the games should be played in true sportsman spirit without thinking of winning or losing
The programme began with Prayer Dance by Ravika Kanish who danced on the tune of Saraswati Vandana followed by vibrant western dance performance by ‘Avatar’ group of students
Dr Sandeep Puri (Chairperson, DMC Cultural Committee) propsed a vote of thanks to the dignitaries present on the occasion.
