Ajmer Singh Sidhu, NRI living in Canada and belonging to village Chakkar (Jagraon) being honored by Guru Kashi University for his unique contribution in transforming his native village into a model village.

Talwandi Sabo, November 7, 2013: Ajmer Singh Sidhu, NRI living in Canada and belonging to village Chakkar (Jagraon) was honored by Guru Kashi University for his unique contribution in transforming his native village into a model village. It is creditable on his part that he has eliminated use of drugs and narcotics by youth in the village. He has also set up Sher-e-Punjab sports academy thereby motivating the children & youth to take part in sports. Consequently this academy produced a few player of national & international level.
Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice Chancellor, Guru Kashi University stated that if other NRIs and well-to-do villagers take a leaf his life then entire Punjab which is at present deeply sunk into drugs can be drastically transformed.
Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Director (Planning & Development) GKU stated that the solar power plant, artificial lakes, green parks, sewerage system & flower plants present a unique method of living by the villagers. All this could not have been achieved but for unflinching support extended by Principal Balwant Singh Sidhu of same village.
