Chandigarh, May 24, 2014: Jitendra K Sharma, Regional Head North – 108 Punjab Project, has stated that in the reference to the strike called by some employees in their vested interest trying to disrupt the emergence services in some of the districts in Punjab, by either denying the emergency calls or making the ambulances off road and putting the lives of the needy people in the danger and going for the strike without any demand notice to the management. For such in human act, concerned ambulance crew is the sole responsible for any casualty if taken, across Punjab, due to the non-availability of the 108 ambulances.
In a statement issued here today, he added the Management of ZHL the company who is operating the 108 emergency ambulance services in Punjab wherein sick and injured persons, many of them critical, are being transported, tried to counsel the Employees, who are not joining their duty. The company has issued the show cause Notice to all such employees who are not coming on duty, to join within 24 Hrs. but if the Ambulance crew will not join their duty within 24 hours of the receiving of the show cause Notice, The Company will be forced to terminate such employees who are not sensitive for the emergency services and playing with the life of the people in need.  The Company has requested for support from the State Health Department for the smooth operation of the 108 Services in the state. Company has started the process for hiring of new EMT and Drivers, at all location where services disrupted by the ambulance crew.
Further, he said moreover strong legal action will be taken against the people who ever would try to disrupt the services, or threaten the new staff or mis-use the ambulances (Public Property)
“We regret for the disruption in the services, and In the meantime, ZHL shall continue to provide emergency transport to individuals calling the 108 Ambulance Control Room using the services of the committed and disciplined staff. ZHL is also making arrangements with independent private Ambulance operators / Drivers to transport individuals in medical emergencies in case of any illegal disruption by the vested interests working to sabotage the functioning of the 108 Ambulance service in Punjab”, he added.
