New Delhi, February 11, 2016: One Globe Knowledge Conference & BrainGain Magazine successfully concluded the fourth annual Study Abroad student session, which was attended by prospective students and parents from across the country.The session, comprised of topics such as ‘Studying Abroad 101 - How to get admission’, ‘21st-century education: Preparing for the future’ and ‘How to write great resumes and ace the interview.’
With unprecedented growth in the number of Indian students considering higher studies abroad, the session addressed issues that could hinder their plans. Speakers included Mr. Andrew White, Sr. Associate Director of Graduate Business Programs at Hofstra University's Frank G. Zarb School of Business in New York, Dr. Zafeena Suresh, Senior Education USA Adviser, United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), and Sandeep Hooda, Co-Founder of Vega Schools and Dr. Bennett McClellan, Senior Faculty, Sunstone Business School & Chief Catalytic Officer, NBM Research, Inc. A concluding session was also conducted by Knowledge@Wharton, the official knowledge partner for the One Globe Conference.
Harjiv Singh, founder of BrainGain Magazine, expressed his delight at the success of the session, “In the last two years there was a 71% surge in Indian students going to the US to study. Seeing this trend, I felt that these sessions were essential to help potential students be well informed about the application process and career prospects when thinking about studying abroad. Our expert speakers, who have dealt with students and understand the nature of foreign institutions, were able to give valuable insights to parents and students.”
One Globe also felicitated the winners of the Knowledge@Wharton Investment competition regional finale-South Asia and Middle East, who were selected from over 12 finalists including teams from leading schools such as the American International School, G.D. Goenka World School, The International School, Bangalore, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, Amity Global School, Gurgaon, and Amity International School, Saket, who ultimately took home the winning trophy. The competition, a collaboration between Knowledge@Wharton and BrainGain Magazine, challenged the teams to maintain a stock portfolio and present their investment strategies to a jury comprising of Pankaj Dinodia, CEO of Dinodia Capital Advisors, Rajesh Sehgal, Senior Executive Director of Emerging Markets, Franklin Templeton Asset Management, Rajat Kumar, Vice President of transaction monetization for SnapDeal, Kanu Priya Sekhri, Associate VP at School of Inspired Leadership (SOIL), and Kunal Nandwani, Founder & CEO, uTrade.
Ishita Rao from Tagore International School Delhi, won the first prize of INR 5000 in the BrainGain Magazine education-themed essay competition while Faisal Ahmad, from Amity International School, Noida, who took home a brand new iPad Mini in a lucky draw.
