One week Goat farming training courses at Veterinary Varsity from July 18

Ludhiana, July 17, 2017: Directorate of Extension Education in collaboration with Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education(VAHEE), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana is going to organize one week “Specialized Goat farming” training programme from 18.07.2017 to 24.07.2017 and from 01.08.2017 to 07.08.2017. Dr. S.K. Kansal Head, VAHEE informed that deliberations on latest nutritional and health management; housing; effective first aid management; vaccination; deworming; breed improvement; value addition of milk; reproductive and seasonal management will be made during these training. Trainees will be imparted theoretical, as well as practical know-how of Goat rearing and hands-on-practice on recording basic vital parameters like rectal temperature, respiration rate; restrain; calculating age of Goats with dentition will be made. For getting admission in this course, farmer has to fill a proforma first, which can be obtained from Department of Extension Education or downloaded from Veterinary University website.

Dr H K Verma, Director of Extension Education, GADVASU apprised that Veterinary varsity is organizing training programmes round the year for livestock farmers, which can proficient a trainee to become good entrepreneur in the field of Dairy, Poultry, Goat, Pig or Fish farming. He also informed that Veterinary University also publishes books and magazines for livestock farmers in Punjabi, Hindi and English. Dr. Verma, said that diversification of livestock sector is moving at a very fast pace, where in, the Veterinary University is always working to improve the socio-economic status of the livestock owners by providing them with recent inputs. He advised farmers to take the knowledge via such type of courses before venturing in to livestock faming.
