PAU Inks Pact With Chandi Seed Farm, Kapurthala

Ludhiana, December 27, 2016: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) inked a pact with the Chandi Seed Farm, Kapurthala, for producing and selling the seed of CH-27 within India. Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Research, PAU and S. Paramjit Singh Chandi, Progressive Vegetable Seed Grower, signed the memorandum of understanding in the presence of senior officials of PAU.

Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, said the University desires to establish close linkages with the seed producers and the farmers interested in seed production. The University has identified this farm, which has the expertise and know-how to undertake large scale seed production of varieties/hybrids of vegetable crops and their marketing, he added.

Dr Gill said the product would be labeled as “A hybrid developed by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana; seed produced and marketed by Chandi Seed Farm.”

Present on the occasion were Dr P.K. Khanna, Registrar; Dr T.S. Dhillon, Director (Seeds); Dr S.S. Chahal, Director, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell; and Dr A.S. Dhatt, Head, Department of Vegetable Science, PAU.
