Ludhiana, October 30, 2014: A week-long Inter-College Youth Festival 2014-15 got off to a colourful start at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The participating students from the four constituent colleges of PAU unleashed their talent and creativity in collage making, creative writing and cartooning events. In collage making and cartooning competitions, students displayed their artistic skills on diverse themes such as Swachh Bharat, Role of Information Technology in Today’s World, Corruption and Pollution. Besides, in creative writing event, students exhibited their writing skills on “Loneliness in Old Age” and “At the Touch of Love, Everyone Becomes a Poet.”

Inaugurating the fest, the Chief Guest Dr Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU said that youth festivals provide a platform to the generation Y to demonstrate their innate talent in plethora of events. “The spirit of participation is more important than winning,” she observed while exhorting the students to keep their spirits high in future as well.

Presiding over the prize-distribution function at evening, Dr H.S. Dhaliwal, Dean, College of Agriculture said, “Alongwith academics, participation in extra-curricular activities helps in unlocking the hidden talent and shaping the overall personality of the students.” He congratulated and distributed the prizes to the winners.

The Guests of Honour, Dr P.S. Chahal, Associate Director of Research and Dr H.S. Kingra, Associate Professor of Economics appreciated the innovation and creative abilities of the students in different events.

Earlier, Dr J.S. Bhalla, Coordinator of Cultural Activities and Organising Secretary of the fest, welcomed the dignitaries and the participants.

Dr Ramandeep Singh, Deputy Director (Sports), proposed the vote of thanks.

Satvir Singh, Welfare Officer, PAU informed that competitions in poster making, debate, clay modeling and poetic recitation/hass rass events will be held tomorrow.
