PCS Officers’ Association backs Durga Shakti Nagpal

Chandigarh, August 5, 2013: A meeting of the PCS (EB) was convened to discuss the issue of suspension of UP Cadre IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal. It is gathered from the news reports and social media video that Officer has exhibited extra-ordinary courage while taking on the sand mafia in her jurisdiction. The officer (originally Punjab Cadre officer) has completed her field training in Punjab and has served as Assistant Commissioner (Under Training) in SAS Nagar. Her work was appreciated by her colleagues as well as senior officers. It appears that officer is being targeted for not bowing to the illegal demands of the political bosses.

The PCS officers’ Association expresses its solidarity with the officer and appeals to other State Civil Services Associations as well as IAS officers Associations to stand behind the officer who has refused to buckle down under political pressure and upheld the dignity becoming of an officer.
