PCTE organises its 14th Annual Athletic Meet

LUDHIANA, February 24, 2017: The sports ground of PCTE Group of Institutes was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere on 24th Feb as the students and faculty celebrated its 14th annual Annual Athletic Meet. Almost 700 students participated in various events like 100m race, 400m race, 1200m race, 3000m Race, Long Jump, Relay, Shot Put for both girls and boys.

The day started with full rigor of individual class March Past followed by the oath taking ceremony at the Campus. The students took the oath in full spirit and displayed immense enthusiasm.

In 400m race for girls, Deepinder Kaur of MBA 2nd year won the first position, Kirandeep Kaur of B.Sc. ATHM 2nd Year won the second position and Dechen Choki of B.Sc. ATHM 2nd Year won the third position. In boys category Manmeet Singh of BCA 1st Year won first prize, Jatin Soni of B.Com 3rd Year won second prize and Eric of B.Pharma 4th Year won third prize.

In Long Jump - boys category Jatin Soni of B.Com 3rd Year won first prize, Karanbir of MBA 1st Year won second prize and Avneet Kalra of B.Com 1st Year won third prize and in girls Category Deepinder Sekhon of MBA 2nd Year grabbed 1st position followed by Bhawna Sharma of ATHM 2nd Year grabbed second position. Third position was grabbed by Sylvia of BBA 3rd Year.

In the event of Shot Put for boys, Jagdeesh of MBA 2nd Year won the first prize, Jaskaran of B.Com 3rd Year won second prize and Sukhvir of B.Com 3rd Year won third prize and in girls category Sylvia of BBA 3rd Year grabbed first position followed by Nimpin of ATHM 1st Year. Third position was bagged by Nima of BBA 3rd Year.

In 4X400 M (Relay) for boys, BBA 3B won the first position, B.Com 3rd Year won second position and B.Pharma 4th Year won third position and in girls category BBA 3B grabbed first position followed by ATHM 2nd Year. Third position was bagged by ATHM 1st Year.

Overall Trophy of Athletic Meet 2017 was won by B.Pharmacy 4th year whereas Deepinder Sekhon of MBA 2nd year won Best Athlete Award in girls category and Manmeet Singh of BCA 1st Year won Best Athlete Award in boys category.

Mr. Amitej Singh, Assistant Professor and sports Incharge said that through such events, we help our students learn values of life which get imbibed into their thinking, thus helping them succeed in all walks of life. It gives me immense pleasure to see all the students participating in the event in large numbers.

Dr. K.N.S. Kang, Director General of PCTE Group of Institutes said, "the events like annual athletic meet are a great source of inspiration for mental and physical development of the students". He further added that “I strongly believe that sports should be given as much importance as academic subjects. At PCTE we lay special emphasis on this day which gives our students a chance to explore their innate talents as they enjoy a healthy competition with each other".
