Ludhiana, November 4, 2014: PCTE Group of Institutes outperforms at Thomso - 2014, annual Cultural and Literary Extravaganza at IIT Roorkee. Total Fifty Eight students from different streams of PCTE Group of Institutes participated at Thomso and all of them won prizes. In the festival more than 50 teams from different parts of the country including IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi and various colleges of Delhi University participated.
PCTE students won First Prize at Nukkad Natak whereas second prize was won by IIT Delhi with more 23 teams participating in the event. PCTE also won First prize in Stage Play while IIT, Delhi again won second prize. Savleen Kaur student of B.Com 2nd year was titled Best Actress at Thomso 2014. In Fashion Show event students of PCTE won third prize. PCTE students also won second prize for their Bhangra performance at Group Dance event where 22 teams participated.
In Literary Event JAM competition PCTE students secured top three positions in which more than fifty participants of different colleges including IIT, Roorkee, IIT, Delhi and various colleges of Delhi University participated. Harpreet Singh won First Position whereas it was a tie between Gopesh of BBA-3rd year & Kevin of MBA-1st year for second position and Ayush from BBA-2nd year won third position in JAM competition. Kevin also won First position in Improvaganza event which included JAM, Extempore & Humor lines. In Corporata – a financial event spread over three days Vipul of B.Com & Rishi, of MBA won First position whereas second and third positions were secured by teams of IIT Roorkee and IMS Ghaziabad respectively.
PCTE won the First prize in Solo Instrumental with Simranjeet Singh of BBA-3rd year outperformed with Tabla. In total Team PCTE won cash prizes worth Rs. 75000/- at Thomso 2014. “Although I was fortunate enough to witness and experience all this, the true credit goes to our faculty members who are a source of inspiration for us” said Savleen, student B.Com.
Swapan Chanana, Unit Head, PCTE said “We got a standing ovation for our performance at Nukkad Natak & Play. One of the judges after watching our Nukkad Natak even said that if I was young I would have even touched your feet”. Tarun Dang student BBA-2nd year and participant of Nukkad Natak said that “Judges were extremely happy to witness out performance. Some of them were in tears to see our expressions during Stage Play and they invited us for breakfast”.
Dr. K.N.S.Kang, Director General, PCTE Group Of Institutes Congratulated the winners and said that  such type of events not only  help the students in developing Confidence to perform  and show case their Talent, but also help in  developing  team Spirit and Leadership Qualities. These Qualities in turn play very important Role in their Professional Career and help them to compete with best in the Market.
