Ludhiana, October 30, 2013: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Ludhiana today staged a protest outside Deputy Commissioner’s Office against the newly imposed taxes by Punjab Government.
Hundreds of AAP volunteers gathered to protest against property tax, fee for regularisation of colonies, enhanced transport fee and taxes, advance power securities, delay in VAT refunds, e-TRIP and other new taxes.  
A memorandum to Governor, Punjab was also given through Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana.
Harjot Singh Bains, Convener, AAP, Punjab Unit said AAP Punjab has launched a statewide agitation against the new taxes and in the upcoming week AAP would hold protests throughout the 22 districts of Punjab.
He added that every time the Punjab Cabinet meets they end up with a list of new taxes. He said all sections of the society such as farmers, entrepreneurs, employees and students are under extreme economic burden.
He regretted that drug menace has badly engulfed the youths but the state government seems totally ignorant. On the other hand the state government is coming up with horse riding betting and casinos just for the cause of revenue.
He regretted that the Opposition (Congress) is sleeping over the present scenario and said the Opposition rather is badly indulging into infighting, ignoring common man.
District Convener Ajay Mittal said people are already suffering from inflation, and daily need commodities such as onion and other vegetables are making them cry.
Another speaker Balbir Aggarwal, District Secretary, AAP, said the party will go door to door to aware the public and will request them not to pay the “unjust” taxes. He said there is huge anger among the public and if government still not realises it then it has to pay the price in near future.
