Phillaur submits resignation on moral grounds; CM forwards it to Governor for early acceptance

Chandigarh, May 22, 2014: The Tourism and Jail Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur today personally met the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and submitted his resignation on moral grounds this morning, as some news reports regarding one of his family member were being published by a section of media from last few days.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that Phillaur urged the Chief Minister to accept his resignation immediately to uphold the highest moral ethics in politics as well as to maintain the dignity of the office held by him. In his resignation letter, Phillaur, while terming these news items as totally baseless, misleading and absurd, reiterated that he and his family had always stood firmly in his social and political life as a votary for honesty, transparency and high moral values as propagated by the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister forwarded the resignation of Phillaur in original to the Punjab Governor Shivraj V. Patil with a request for its immediate acceptance.
