Police unearth conspiracy behind attack on Congress leader

Ferozepur, February 15, 2017: Ferozepur police claimed to unearth the conspiracy behind the attack on Congress leader before elections at Zira sub-division and have arrested six persons. It is pertinent to mention here that on 11th January, this year, Congress leader and former DCC General Secretary Tarsem Lal was attacked by some unidentified assailants when he was coming from Makhu to Village Bhutiwala in Zira subdivision. The unidentified assailants had shot several fires and had thrashed the windows of Tarsem’s car with baseball bats. However, the driver of the car acted wisely and ran through the car.
Later, a case was registered at Makhu police station following which the police had started its investigation. Gaurav Garg, SSP Ferozepur constituted a special investigation team including SP (D) Dharamvir Singh and Waryam Singh, DSP, Zira. Today, Dharamvir Singh, SP (D), Ferozepur while addressing a press conference said that the police has solved the mystery behind this case and has nabbed six persons who had hatched the conspiracy to kill the congress leader. He said three persons identified as Pawan Kumar, Mohit and Rajiv, residents of Muktsar have already been sent to Muktsar jail while other accused identified as Pargat Singh alias Pagga, Sandip Kumar alias Sonu, Manpreet Singh alias Mundu, Amar Palta, Gurwinder Singh alias Dolli and Rajan have been arrested by the police. “The accused tried to befool the police by submitting the weapons (which were used in the incident) in a gun house at Village Kot Ise Khan on 12th January, the very next day of incident. However, the police have recovered the weapons including one pistol (.32 bore) and one rifle (.315 bore) now”, said SP (D).
The police officials said that these accused have already been booked in several cases of theft, robbery and murder attempt. “The main accused Pargat Singh alias Pagga is a notorious gangster and is associated with Manna Group”, said SP (D).
