Ludhiana, October 15, 2017: Raising concerns of the pollution levels due to stubble burning in the feilds, Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board S.Kahan Singh Pannu IAS,held a meeting (Kisan Goshti) with the Progressive farmers of the district.
Various farmers from across the district shared their views in the discussion. Farmers were guided about the various techniques for paddy straw management in the fields. All farmers promised the chairman for not burning paddy straw in the feilds and opting for alternative management of paddy straw.
The farmers have asked for cooperation on the part of govt. In terms of subsidies to be availed on the equipment like super SMS, happy seeder, bailers etc. and have told the chairman that they are also against burning paddy straw. But the government support is must. Mr. Pannu assured them to provide all possible support from government side.
The discussion was also attended by Er.A.K.kalsi Senior environmental engineer PPCB, Er. GS Gill Exen, PPCB, Er. Avtar singh, Chief Agricultural Officer Dr. Baldev Singh, Er. Manohar lal Exen PPCB, Er S.S.Dhaliwal,Er Joginder singh Sh Baldev Singh Chief agricultural officer and other executives from the district.
