PUNJAB EDUCATION MINISTER GETS STRICT; TAKES STRONG NOTICE OF SHORTCOMINGS IN INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF 62ND PUNJAB SCHOOL GAMES OF KHO-KHO

S.A.S.Nagar (Mohali), November 23, 2016: The Punjab Education Minister, Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema today took strong notice of the shortcomings in the inaugural ceremony of the 62nd Punjab School Games of Kho-Kho which got underway at Government Model Senior Secondary School phase-3B1. The minister ordered strict action against the erring education officers and physical education teachers on the spot itself.
Dr. Cheema, who arrived here as a chief guest took strict notice of several shortcomings such as the presence of players without kits in the march past and the absence of flags in the hands of flag bearers besides other errors. During his speech on the occasion, Dr. Cheema pointed out that the presence of players in the march past of the state level games without kits, shoes and flags is a grave indiscipline. He instructed DPI (Secondary Education) on the spot itself to take action against erring officials and the teachers. He also said that in future wherever the Punjab State School Games are held there must be advance supervision of all sorts of arrangements by dispatching senior officers from the headquarters. He warned that he can check the boarding and logistics arrangements of the players anytime.
The Education Minister also distributed sports kits to the students of primary schools of Mohali. He also said that the Education Department is paying special attention to the primary level games in order to prepare and train the players right from the beginning and it is as part of this plan that the primary schools are being disbursed basic sports goods and kits in the initial phase. Earlier, Dr. Cheema inaugurated the 62nd Punjab State School Games (Kho-Kho, Boys).
Among others present on the occasion included DPI (Secondary Education) Balbir Singh Dhol, Director SCERT Sukhdev Singh Kahlon, Director (Administration) Gurpreet Kaur Dhaliwal, Councillor from Mohali Kuldeep Kaur Kang and Harmanpreet Singh Prince, Deputy Director (Sports) Mewa Singh Sidhu, Deputy Director Dharam Singh, Dr. Ginni Duggal and District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Surinder Pal Sidhu.
