Sri Anandpur Sahib, March 28, 2013: In a bid to impart quality training to the students to ensure their intake in the Armed forces, the state government would allocate Rs 1 crore every year to the newly established NDA Training wing at Sri Dashmesh Academy, Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Presiding over the meeting of Sri Dashmesh Academy trust here on Wednesday, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that the state government has made this provision to make the NDA wing of the Academy financially viable from the current academic session. He reiterated that the state was committed to provide state of the art training to the students to enable their absorption in the Armed forces and this newly opened NDA wing would prove to be a stepping stone in this direction. Mr Badal, who is also the chairman of the trust, said that realising the gallantry past of the Punjabis his government has initiated relentless efforts to upgrade the infra structure in this NDA wing so that students could be immensely benefitted from it. 

Dwelling on the need for recruiting the best faculty of teachers for providing quality education to the students of the academy, the Chief Minister said that it would go a long way in establishing the academy as a leading residential school of the country. He said that it was the need of the hour that more and more number of students should be enrolled in the school by providing quality infra structure in the school. Badal said that it was the high time that the trust should make renewed efforts for developing the academy as a centre of excellence.

Earlier, taking part in deliberations the Director of the Academy Major General (Retd.) JS Ghuman apprised the Chief Minister that a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) would be set up in the premises of the Academy.

Meanwhile the Trust gave approval to the Budget estimates of the Academy for the year 2013-2014. The Trust also gave approval for the creation of endowment fund for the repair and maintenance of the Academy.

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Cabinet Minister and Vice Chairman of the Trust Surjit Singh Rakhra, Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder, former MP Satwinder Kaur Dhaliwal, IAS (Retd.) Amarjeet Singh Sidhu, Member Secretary of the Trust Air Marshal (Retd.) MM Singh and Principal Colonel (Retd.) Amarjeet Singh.
