Punjab government made record payments of Rs.15473.15 crore to farmers

Chandigarh, May 27, 2014: The Punjab Government has deposited Rs.15473.15 Crore rupees in the accounts of farmers till Tuesday evening ensuring timely payments to the farmers for the wheat being procured by government agencies during Rabi marketing season 2014-15.
The Spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that beating all this year till Tuesday evening 11817176 tonnes of wheat was procured. The State Government is committed to pay the farmers within 48 hours of lifting and till now government has deposited Rs. 15473.15 Crore Rupees in farmers accounts. He said that Sangrur District is leading in wheat production. In this district till now 1393.64 Crore Rupees have been deposited in the farmers accounts. District Bathinda is on second place in wheat production where 1163.13 Crore Rupees have been deposited in the farmers accounts. District Ludhiana is third place in wheat production where 1144.38 Crore Rupees have been deposited in the farmers accounts.
The Spokesperson further said that payment of wheat procured in the district Amritsar Rs. 748.34 crore, Tarantaran 801.96 crores, Gurdaspur 574.80 Crore, Pathankot 45.10 crore, Kapurthala 506.79 crore, Jalandhar 694.83 crore, Hoshiarpur 346.39 crore and Nawan Sehar 296.46 crores is already payed to farmers.
In addition to this in district Patiala Rs. 1118.82 Crore, Sangrur 1393.64 Crore, Barnala 621.66 Crore, Ludhiana 1144.38 crore, Fatehgarh Sahib 354.35 crore, SAS Nagar 123.18 crore, Rupnagar 198.43 crore, Ferozpur 1014.34 crore, Fazilka 823.55 crore, Moga 993.99 crore, Faridkot 623.14 crore, Muktsar 1074.82 crore, Bathinda 1163.13 crore and Mansa 811.05 crore amount is paid to farmers.
