Punjab Government plans multi skill development centres

Ludhiana, August 27, 2012: The Punjab Government , in collaboration with the Centre. is planning to set up multi skill development centres in Ludhiana, Bhatinda, Amritsat and Hoshiarpur. In this regard GIZ International Services, a German Company conducted a meeting with the different associations at Hotel A here yesterday.

The representatives of different associations attended the meeting.

All these association representatives presented the problems of knitwear industry and gave some suggestions/ solutions to the problems. Mahesh Munjal presented the suggestions for the automobile companies.

Darshan Dawar and Narinder Miglani suggested to impart training to the women from rural areas and to train the opertaors, technicians to operate sophisticated computerised knitting machines to mitigate the problem of labour shortage pertaining to knitwear industry.

GIZ international agreed to this proposal and also assured to impart training not only to the workers’ level but also to higher level like managers, super-visors etc. To train the workers, qualification requirement will be from 5th to 12th standard.

Jax (Senior Advisor, Germany International Co-Operation), Dr. Shreekant Bansal  (Director Technical) and Dr. Mathur from GIZ were present at the meeting .

Besides, Daljeet Kaur  Sidhu (Additional  Director, ITI , Panjab),  Mahesh Khanna (GM-DIC) and Baljinder Singh (Principal,ITI College, Ludhiana) were present from the state government’s side.

Representatives from different associations who attended the meeting included Mahesh Munjal (Hero Group of Indusries), Inderjeet Nagpal (CII), Gurmeet Singh Kular (United Cycle Parts and Manufacturers Association), Ashok Makkar (Dyeing Association), Rajnish Ahuja ( Focal Point Industry Association), Dinesh Lakra (Laghu Udyog Bharti), Badish K Jindal ( President ,FOPSIA), Jagdish Singal (Eastman Group.), Tarun Jain , Ashok Jain (Bahadur Ke Road Association),

Darshan Dawar ( President) , Narinder Miglani (General Secretary), Jaswant Takkar (Senior Vice President), Rajinder Bhushan Maini (Senior Vice President ) represented Knitwear Club, Ludhiana.
