Punjab to have garbage free status very soon

Badal (Muktsar), September 29, 2014: Giving a clarion call to Punjabis to become active associates of Swach Bharat drive, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal asked we all should have pro-active attitude towards this brainchild initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a garbage free India.
Appreciating the move of Prime Minister, Badal said that Punjab has already taken perceptible initiatives in this regard by dividing the state into 8 clusters to make Punjab garbage free-state in coming months as the physical work in some clusters have already been commenced. Adding he said that these solid waste projects would generate power besides producing manures. He also asked the state bureaucracy and concerned officials to maintain the tempo of drive besides ensuring timely completion of these projects.
“An awareness drive should also be launched in all districts to encourage general public for cleaning of streets, roads, railway stations, workplaces, bus stations, parks, community centers, historic places, ponds etc” he added. Deputy CM also announced the urban local bodies will undertake the cleanliness of roads with mechanised machines.
Lauding the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recent past, Badal said that Modi has brought massive improvement internally and externally for the betterment of India. He said that with the bold steps taken by Modi, India has been scaling new heights on bilateral diplomatic ties and international relations.
Badal was interacting with media persons after flagging off NCC cadets and NSS volunteers under Swach Bharat abhiyan and sapling plants at Multi Sports Stadium, Badal village.
Answering a query regarding recent incident of killing of two brothers in Ludhiana, Deputy Chief Minister said special investigation team has been constituted to conduct fair investigation in this regard. He said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has already ordered a probe and asked Deputy Commissioner to submit a fact-finding report in this regard. Adding further he categorically said there would be no compromise with law and order situation. Besides, fair probe would be conducted and offenders not be spared.
Referring to the question regarding controversy over the SAD candidate Balkour Singh at Kalanwali Assembly constituency in Haryana, Badal said that there would be no opposition and controversy over the candidature of SAD candidate. He stressed that entire leadership of Indian National Lok Dal was with SAD candidate and his victory was inevitable.
Prominent amongst those present at the occasion included Parampreet Singh Babby Badal, Avtar Singh Vanwala, Kanwarjeet Singh Rozy Barkandi, Parambans Singh Banty Romana, Harjit Singh Bholuwala and Jaskiran Singh Deputy Commissioner.
