Punjab included in national land records modernisation programme, thanks total computerisation

Chandigarh, February 24, 2014: The National Land Records Modernisation Programme (NLRMP) has taken the Punjab Land Records Society (PLRS) under its ambit keeping in view exemplary work of computerisation of land records done by State as by covering 12823 out of total 13004 villages it has made 163 out of 167 computerised Fard Kendras operational.

Congratulating the Society while presiding over the 8th meeting of Governing Council of Punjab Land Records Society held here today, the Punjab Revenue & Rehabilitation Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that PLRS has been designated as Project Management Unit of NLRMP and now it has to undertake massive capacity building in terms of infrastructure and manpower which requires higher level of planning, monitoring and valuation of the various phases. The governing council approved the re-structuring of PLRS set up by putting more technically equipped and supervisory personnel at managerial level.

Majithia further directed to expedite the ongoing construction of District Administrative Complexes (DACs), SDM/Tehsil complexes, Sub-tehsils and Patwar work stations for creation of quality revenue infrastructure in the state. He pointed out that keeping in view the significant contribution of revenue department in state exchequer, it becomes imperative to create quality infrastructure of revenue department. It was informed in the meeting that at present construction of five DACs namely Barnala, Mohali, Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Fazilka has been undertaken at the cost of Rs. 142.24 Crore and Rs. 69.55  crore has been already released. Besides this, construction of 16 SDM/Tehsil complexes has been undertaken at the joint cost of Rs. 50.36 crore for which Rs. 39.08 crore has already been released. 

It was also informed that 4600 patwar work stations were being constructed at the cost of Rs. 85 crore, out of which Rs. 66 crore have already been released.
