Chandigarh, March 22, 2014: Punjab Irrigation Retired Engineers Association organised a seminar of its wing `National Forum for Youth Welfare’ at Chandigarh on Saturday where eminent professionals of various walks of life participated to discuss the plight of unemployed qualified and educated youth and the rising unrest and disgust which is driving them to crime and drugs.
The intellectuals who took part in the deliberations were Prof K.N Pathak, Former VC Panjab University, Er Narinder Sharma Chief Engineer (Retd), Gurnam Singh Former Additional Director (Finance) Govt of Punjab, A.C Sharma IAS (Retd) Dr Tankeshwar Kumar Director Computer Centre, PU Chandigarh, Arjun Kamboj Director, Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Er A.S Pandher SE (Retd) Er S.S Chopra XEN (Retd) and Er K.L Bhargava, President of the Association.  
The forum resolved to submit to Central and all State Governments proposals for harnessing and channelising the energy of the youth by imparting multipurpose training so as to make them employable, self reliant by using their talent and aptitude commensurate with their qualification by involving the expertise and experience of retired persons so that the youth become an asset for the development of the nation and for building new India. The forum pledged to work day and night so that these proposals are submitted soon after the formation of new govt. at the centre.
