Chandigarh, September 26, 2013: All Political parties should cooperate for enrolling every person of the age of 18 and above as voter in the state. Political Parties should also launch an awareness campaign to motivate people for registering as voter.
Raminder Singh, CEO, Punjab while presiding over a meeting with the representatives of all the Political parties here today  said that Election Commission has launched a campaign to enroll every eligible person as voter who is 18 years of age on 1 January, 2014 or above.
He said that their main focus would be to enroll all youth of the age of 18-19 years of age as voter as it has come to notice that youth of this age is very less registered as voter. He said that people of slum areas, beggars and Kinnars are also being encouraged to get registered as voter.  
He said that Election Commission of India has launched a campaign ‘Be responsible- Become Voter’ to motivate people to get enrolled as voters. He said that under this campaign new voters are being registered and voter cards are being issued. He said that work of revising voter list is going on from 6th September to 4th October, 2013. He said that Booth Level Officers would be available at concerned polling booths on 29th September, 2013 to collect forms.
Raminder Singh said that he also held a meeting with all the government departments who are involved in public dealing to encourage people to become voters. He said that Education, Social Securities, Health and women and child development etc. have assured the Commission that they would fully cooperate in this campaign.  On this occasion, B.
