Kailsah Satyarthi, closely worked with renowned farmers leaders, Bhupinder Singh Mann, Ex MP, Sharad Joshi Ex MP, Prem Singh Dahiya, Mahendra Singh Tikait during farmers movement of 1980-1990 when the complete farmers movement was united.

Chandigarh, October 11, 2014: Bhupinder Singh Mann, Ex MP, and National President BKU sent a letter to Kailash Satyarthi for getting Nobel Prize for Children’s rights.
 “I am very happy to know that Kailash Satyarthi has received Noble Prize for Childrens rights. I remember him as a young activist with great conviction and commitment when he was closely associated with Bharti Kisan Union (BKU) during farmers’ movement in 1980's and 1990's”, Mann said in a statement today.
Mann said that BKU is immensely proud that he was associated with this organisation as an activist and has achieved such an honour through his commitment to a great cause.

Mann reminded that in 1984, the united force of under the banner of BKU had gheraoed the Punjab Raj Bhawan at Chandigarh for full 7 days to press the demands of farmers. Such an agitation, which had about 50,000 farmers participating, is still unprecedented.
Subsequently, the political parties realised the strength of this movement and started breaking the Kisan Movement through infiltration and other tricks.
