Punjab News- Strict action against government doctors involved in private practice: Jayani

Chandigarh, October 7, 2013: Private practice by the Government Doctors won’t be tolerated at any cost, anybody indulged in such practice should put an end to it.

Surjit Kumar Jayani Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab strictly issued a warning regarding this while addressing during a meeting with all CMO’s & SMO’s of the state here today at the head office of the Punjab Health Systems Corporation. All Civil Surgeons & SMO’s would be would be responsible if any government doctor found doing private practice, ‘said Jayani’.

According to available information with www.cityairnews.com Jayani said that Punjab Government is committed to provide better health services to all and called upon officials & doctors to ensure proper health services especially in the backward rural areas to the poor people. Health Minister called upon all officials and doctors to work untidily to improve the health services in the state to the satisfaction of the patients. He said that he would start visiting all hospitals in the state after 15 days.  He said that cleanliness in hospitals and wards is his top priority therefore all needy should be done before he starts his tour. He also highlighted the issue that behavior of doctors should be polite with the patients and no excuses like lack of funds etc should be made for cleanliness.

Stating pollution as a main root cause of all health hazards Health Minister called upon all present to contribute in purifying our environment by planting as much trees as possible in hospital compounds. Jayani said that there should not be any compromise with the quality of Medicines being supplied at the health department drug stores. He added that department should also regularly keep a vigil on the private medical stores to stop supply of medical drugs.  Health Minister said that he would not work as a minister or boss but as a brother and anybody could directly approach him regarding any issue of the department. But he also added that he won’t tolerate any irregularity in performing duty. Jayani also clarified that anybody seeking undue favour in his name should be directly reported to him.

Speaking on the occasion, Navjot Kaur Sidhu CPS Health & Family Welfare congratulating the New Health Minister called upon officials & doctors to work in a chain owing responsibility to provide better health services at the ground level to the needy and poor.
