Punjab News/Dr Karanjit Singh takes over as Director, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab

Chandigarh, November 30, 2013: Dr Karanjit Singh has taken over as the new Director, Health Services, Punjab.

He was currently serving on the post of Director Family Welfare, Punjab. He joined PCMS in 1980 and was posted as Medical Officer in District Amritsar. He got promoted as Senior Medical Officer in year 1991. During his service he served various key positions like Registrar of Govt Medical College, Amritsar. He got posted as the first Civil Surgeon of District Taran Tarn and later also served as Civil Surgeon of districts of Sri Muktsar Sahib and Ferozepur. Among his priorities areas are the issues related to implementation of Infant Death Review, reduction in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR), establishment of new born care and stabilization units and improvement of sex-ratio in the state.
