Talwandi Sabo, December 3, 2013: Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Director (Planning & Development), Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo and President, Punjabi Sahitya Academy, Ludhiana will be honored on December 4 at 3 pm in K.L Sehgal Memorial Hall, Jalandhar by Kewal Vig Foundation with Kewal Vig Award 2013 in recognition of his excellence in Poetry and Writings.
This award was instituted in memory of eminent journalist and literature-savvy late Kewal Vig and is awarded every year to the personalities for their significant contribution to the literature field.
Prof. Gill, born on 2nd May, 1953 in village Basantkot, District Gurdaspur has been taking interest in literary activities and writings since his boyhood. He worked as Senior Editor (Punjabi) in Punjab Agricultural University for a very long time where he earned name and fame as a poet and writer. By dint of hard work, he rose to the august position of President, Punjabi Sahitya Academy as well as General Secretary of Prof. Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation. He has a flair for Punjabi poems, writings, songs and ghazals. His famous book ‘Camere di akh boldi hai’ speaks well of his constructive contribution towards environment.
