Chandigarh, November 27, 2013: Punjab Police to recruit 110 Women sub inspectors. The lower age limit is 18 years and the upper age limit is 25 years as on 01.01.2013. The Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes.  For Ex-servicemen relaxation in the upper age limit by 3 years plus the number of years of service rendered in the Defence Forces.

Disclosing this here today ADGP IPS Sahota, Chairman, Sub Inspector (Female) Recruitment Committee, Punjab Police, Chandigarh said that the minimum educational qualification for recruitment is Graduation as on date of Advertisement or its equivalent from a recognized university. He said that it is compulsory for each candidate to have passed matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory/ elective subjects passed at the level of Matriculation from a recognized education board/University.

Sahota said that the candidate should have minimum 5 feet and 3 inches height and only those candidates who fulfill the physical measurement criterion shall be eligible to participate in the Physical Efficiency Test. He further said that the applicants, who would qualify the physical test, have to appear for written examination, which will be of hundred (100) marks. This examination would be based on topics viz. general awareness on current national and international issues (terrorism/naxalism in Indian sub-continent), including knowledge about India, and Punjab in particular, general science, information technology and its applications, numerical aptitude, test of reasoning & comprehension etc.

He said that it is mandatory to get minimum of 45% marks to qualify this examination by the applicants belonging to SC/ST/BC categories, whereas other applicants have to get minimum of 50% pass marks. At the final selection process candidates will be called for interview on the basis of merit in the written examination. Interview will be of 15 marks only. Number of candidates called for interview would be three times of the vacancies advertised.

He said that category-wise final Merit list would be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in both written examination & interview and in case more than one candidate get equal marks precedence will be given to the candidate senior in age.
